Finally Starting To See Some Progress

I’ve been going to the gym since college. My brother Warren played football and ran track & field and he trained me. He was a mean coach but he taught me well.
I’ve been working out for most of my adult life, albeit a few years of breaks here and there due to health issues. But I’ve never been happy with the way I looked.
Maybe I was getting lazy with my forms, maybe I was too distracted or spreading myself thin with too many things on my plate.
It was only recently I started recording my progress with weights. Last few years I had to focus my tattoos so I had to be content with working out every other week. I was basically doing maintenance work. And because of the pandemic I had to cancel my gym membership and switch to home workout, which isn’t so bad for what I needed.
But honestly, I’m finally starting to see some growth even though my progress is still pretty slow. At my age I have to be smart about it. Otherwise I’ll get injured. And we all know that means you’ll be back to square one in no time.
These past few years gave me perspective. I knew I was being lazy with my forms and planning my routine. But I decided that I didn’t want to waste my time and effort and get all tired for nothing. So I went and did a little research to find what works for me and what doesn’t. Fortunately there are many people out there on YouTube who can teach an old dog like me some new tricks.
It’s only recently that I started to see progress. Some on my shoulders, some on my traps. Been working on my legs and I no longer need to walk with my cane. I’m far from where I want to be and I still can’t stop eating. But I’m getting there one step at a time. 💪🏽
